IL VIOLINO ALLA CORTE DI FRANCESCO II D’ESTE
Giuseppe Colombi, C. Ambrogio Lonati e Giovanni B. Vitali
Isobel Cordone, violin
Federico Lanzellotti, harpsicord
During the last years of the dukedom of Francesco II, the Modena court was the meeting point of some extraordinary violin composers. Among the numerous testimonies of this golden age of Italian violinism, today preserved in the Biblioteca Estense of Modena, the manuscript sonatas of Giuseppe Colombi (1634-1694) and Carlo Ambrogio Lonati (ca.1645 – ca.1710) stand out. The concert is the result of archival research and critical work by the young harpsichordist Federico Lanzellotti who performs the music with the violinist Isobel Cordone.
