I BONONCINI DA MODENA ALL’EUROPA
Presentazione del volume (LIM 2020)
with Marc Vanscheeuwijck (University of Oregon)
Enrico Gatti (Cons. Reale dell’Aja e Cons. G. Rossi di Bologna)
The volume «I Bononcini da Modena all’Europa (1666-1747)» published by LIM in Lucca (2020) collects fourteen peer-reviewed essays, that reflect the work presented at the conference with the same title, held in Modena from the 2nd to the 4th of December of 2016, and organized by «Grandezze & Meraviglie, IXX Festival Musicale Estense 2016» and by the scientific committee of «Gruppo Arcomelo 2013». The conference was conceived as an effort to stimulate new research on the Bononcini family and aimed on the one hand to study the life, works and influence exerted, in an European perspective, by the Bononcinis on Emilian instrumental and vocal music, on the other hand to shed light on the circulation of Emilian music and musicians and on the aspects of executive practice. Taking into account the organization of the various topics presented at the conference, we followed a similar articulation of the general topics: 1. «Ideas & publishing», 2. «Instrumental music», 3. «Vocal music» e 4. «Influences». The collection of works collected here seeks both to offer a look at the recent interests of some scholars, and, through a comprehensive bibliography at the end of the volume, to provide an updated list of existing publications on the topics covered.
