On the 450th anniversary of the birth of Giovan Battista Marino (1569– 1625), the greatest Italian poet of the seventeenth century, Grandezze & Meraviglie, in collaboration with the rassegna “Chiese Corti e cortili”, proposes the setting up of a rare performance of the masterpiece. Based on the amorous poem of Marino, the encyclopedic and famous “L’Adone”, the “favola boschereccia” is taken from the chants XI and XII of the poem and is executed by Domenico mazzocchi, one of the most daring and genial composers of the early Roman 17th century. The quality of the representation is supported by the in-depth formative work of the early music workshops “ENCORE” for a production where music, speech, gestures and costumes will lead to the baroque masterpiece’s resurrection.
