The theme of triumph can be usefully applied to the field of translation studies. Translating is a complex operation, linked to a multiplicity of constraints and variables, and sometimes destined to clash with the impassable limit of the untranslatable, to confront one’s own limits. Yet, if entropy is a part of translating, translation can sometimes become a valuable tool to rediscover the hidden or forgotten treasures of a language, thus contributing to its enhancement. During the conference the case of some French translations of what has been called the “nouvelle vague literary Sardinian” (Agus, Atzeni, Fois, Niffoi, etc.) will be examined. The wide use of Sardinian expressions and references to Sardinian culture is an element of difficulty for the French translator. However, it is precisely from this that the experienced translator can draw the opportunity to win the language of arrival, proposing effective solutions that can enhance it.
