Who we are
The Associazione Musicale Estense was founded in 2000 with the primary goal of sharing knowledge and enhancing the ancient and Baroque musical heritage, with particular emphasis on the musical culture associated with the former Estense territories.
The members of the Association include everyday enthusiasts, music and communication professionals, as well as administrative, financial, and legal experts. Together, they all contribute to this project.
The Association and the Estense Music Festival aim to:
Favour
widespread knowledge of early music, performed on ancient instruments or replicas;
Value
the musical heritage related to the Estense era, by sharing new releases based on documentary and executive research, while referencing the Estense culture;
Collaborate
with both Italian and European institution pursuing similar goals;
Restore
the artistic and cultural value of both historical buildings and sites of Modena and its province which, whether sacred or not, represent important places of culture;
Value
the bond between the place of musical performance, both in terms of acoustics and purpose, and the music performed, pursuing a coherence in musical choices that enriches the place’s functional value;
Support
education in practice and listening, with a focus towards a younger audience and schools, by organising several activities;
Ensure
high-quality content by favouring research, training, and spread of knowledge via meetings with experts and artists alike, lessons, seminars, concerts, editorials, records, multimedia etc.
