This program features two beautiful trios written expressly by Ludwig van Beethoven for two oboes and English horn, along with works by famous oboists and composers of the composer’s entourage. A trio for two oboes and English horn by J. Wenth was surely heard by Ludwig, giving him suggestions for Trio op.87. J. Triebensee, oboist and composer, played as second oboe in the orchestra of the first performance of the Zauberflöte, under the direction of Mozart himself. The Beethoboen Trio performs music on instruments from the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
