Accademia di Scienze, Lettere e Arti
di GIOVANNI MARIA BONONCINI (1673)
two workshops with live music
with Giorgio Pacchioni
Since the end of the nineteenth century, there has been a progressive abandonment of Western musical traditions and culture, due to an unprecedented need for adaptation to new tastes and lifestyles in line with industrialization, large-scale trade and finally of a globalized society with a gradual attenuation of history and local traditions. For the full understanding and interpretation of the music of past centuries it is essential to master the theoretical and practical tools of the time. The two meetings aim to exemplify the traits of a longer and deeper path of recovery of these skills, having as their reference the Musico Prattico (Bologna, 1673) of the Modenese Giovanni Maria Bononcini, the most famous and widespread manual in Europe of that period.
